Speech and Debate

Speech and Debate introduces students real life skills and asks students to collaborate, think critically, listen critically, exude confidence, evaluate text, write arguments, and learn how to function in real-world settings. The Speech and Debate program are usually co-curricular, meaning that there are elective classes held during the school day and continue their activities outside of the classroom.

Students have the opportunity to participate in individual speaking events including impromptu speaking competitions,  informative speaking, special occasion speaking,  and oral interpretation of literature (the performance of poetry, prose or dramatic literature).

Students participate in local and national Speech and Debate competitions.
