Feeling sad, angry or stressed out? Try some of these coping strategies and see if you feel better!
* Listen to music
* Take a walk/go for a run
* Write down your thoughts & feelings in a journal
* Talk to a trusted friend or adult
* Play your favorite sport
* Take a nap
* Watch your favorite show
* Play with your pet
* Draw, doodle or do a coloring page
* Play video games (with appropriate time limits)
It is normal to feel sadness in life, but sometimes those feelings deepen into depression or even thoughts of self-harm. If you need to talk to someone but don't feel comfortable talking to a counselor at school, or need to talk to someone during after-school hours, you can call the following numbers:
Teen Talk - talk to a trained teen counselor between the hours of 6-10 pm by calling 800.852.8336
California Youth Crisis Hotline - youths ages 12-24 can talk to a professionally trained counselor or volunteer at 800.843.5200. Free 24/7 service.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline - free and confidential support for people in distress. There are three options for support:
